I heard a quote for the ages last week. A moment of enlightenment, a quote so resonant and true that I felt I had no choice but to share it with you fine readers:

'There are no guarantees I will still be in the music industry in five years.' - Westlife's Shane Filan

You just can't argue with that. What a humble man. Realises that Westlife just might not remain successful in the long-term, and honest enough to admit it. Respect.

And in other quotes this week:

HRH Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Queen Mother: Gawd bless 'er

'I've already wished Harry well for his reign as king because there's the off-chance that I might not be around to see his coronation.' - The Queen Mother

'You just can't take anything for granted. We may be doing okay now but who's to say we'll still be on the air in 2012?' - Susie Amy, a.k.a. Chardonnay off "Footballers' Wives"

'I know I've got great breasts now but the march of time could potentially lead to sagging. It's unlikely, I know, but it's something I'm aware of.' - Judy Finnegan

'I'm making the most of it with the ladies at the moment because I'm philosophical enough to know that I could easily lose my looks over the next few years.' - Manchester United's Luke Chadwick

'You can't rely on continuing public support. There's absolutely no guarantee that I'll still be Prime Minister in 2185.' - Tony Blair

'The only reason I go to so many premieres and celebrity events is because I know that celebrity can be fickle and that in five years or so, I might not even be invited to such occasions.' - Big Brother 2's Narinder Kaur

'Yeah, the formula has been successful so far but we're always looking for ways to improve the show because there may come a time when people start to tire of our increasingly unfunny and convoluted storylines.' - Courtney Cox

'I know I'm streaking at a lot of events but I want to cram in as much as possible while I still can because it's entirely possible that when I'm 70, nobody will even want to see my knob.' - serial streaker Mark Roberts

'I'm planning on stocking up from early November onwards. I mean, I realise that it may not be feasible for me to go Christmas shopping in New York this year.' - Osama Bin Laden

Next month, fellow Westlife member, Bryan McFadden tells us what he's got planned for the future if 'World of Our Own' doesn't quite make it to the status of Greatest Album of All Time.
