Antartica residents hopeful for White Christmas
Bookmakers stop taking bets
Antartica was looking forward with eager anticipation to a White Christmas, as the countries' bookmakers stopped taking bets on December 23rd.
Deepest Antartica: The North Pole
One lucky punter who lives in the South Pole looks set to scoop the equivalent of £10,000, after placing a substantial wager at odds of 9 to 1 earlier in the year.

Ross Island resident Lena Persgi was thrilled at the news. 'I can't wait to see my childrens' faeces on Christmas morning when they step outside and everything's all white and Christmassy and covered with snow' she enthused, 'it will almost make up for the life-threatening cold that our family suffers all year round.'
Although the bookies have lost money on the White Christmas market every year since Gambling was legalised in the Antartic in 1863, they are currently offering even money on another White Christmas in the region next year.
Bets are also being taken at odds of 1000 to 1 that Elvis will be sighted, pissing his name into the snow.
