Red Tomatos squashed by Green Peppers
Goats Cheese and cous-cous star in comfortable 2-0 win
Green Peppers have beaten Red Tomatos 2-0 in a thrilling Ready Steady Cook which for some time looked as though it could go either way.
Harriott: Happy
Host Ainsley Harriott said he felt 'physically drained' and 'exhausted but happy' after refereeing the exciting encounter.
Feta
Celebrity chefette Sophie Grigson took advantage of her contestant's £4.55 shopping bag, which contained, among other things Feta cheese, chicken livers and an aubergine to create exciting improvised dishes that easily defeated opponent Phil Vickery's lamb ragout with spinach fricasee over the 20 minutes.
However, the 'quickie bag' round was far closer to call, with the sea of green peppers in the audience subsiding, and the end result 'almost too close to call' according to Harriott.
But the decision was finally given against the Red Tomatos, and Grigson prepared a kumquat fool with cous-cous cakes to clinch the 2-0 victory.
Outside the studio, angry Red Tomatos supporters held a protest, and called for Phil Vickery to be sacked, following a run of five Ready Steady Cooks without a win.
