Fairground Zero
MTV to sponsor controversial WTC Theme Park
Music Television giant MTV have announced that they will be sponsoring a new $50 million theme park, on the site of the World Trade Center in New York.
There had been considerable doubt as to whether the project would go ahead, with many NY residents preferring to mark September 11th with a more toned-down tone.
MTV: Big Plans
But the ambitious plans for a family funfair at Ground Zero are now back on, after the MTV Network pledged to invest massively in marketing and promotional material ahead of the 2005 completion date.
Vertical-drop
The star attraction will be the 'Twin Towerz' - a double vertical-drop rollercoaster, that climbs (and falls) the full 3000-feet height of the original towers - while the '911:X-treme' 3D simulator ride also promises to be very popular.
'We're talking white-knuckle, maximum G-Force stuff here' said Johnny Knoxville of MTV's hit show Jack-Arse at a press unveiling, 'this is gonna be the biggest thing EVER to hit New York!'
MTV has been a massive brand in the US for over 20 years, while MTV-UK has become famous for launching the careers of Davina McCall, Lisa I'anson and John Fortune.
However, the Atlantic Ocean is clearly no obstacle to the spirit of controversiality, as British producers were recently criticised for a recent edition of Celebrity Death Match, who's main event was a sickening depiction of Steven Lawrence vs Damilola Taylor.
