Thermos have unveiled the latest addition to their flagship product line, with the launch of the 9000+ Executive Flask.

Based on last year's 9X model, the new flask boasts the same impressive 2.5 litre capacity, but with the addition of phenol insulation to keep hot tea at optimum drinking temperature for up to 90 days, and a second screw-on cup.

With a list price of £31.95, the new model is available with all the Thermos 9-series optional extras, including tartan trim and - according to the Thermos press release - is 'expected to sell strongly among the dedicated, more mature outdoorer who needs a more reliable flask in his hamper.'

New Flask

Midlands-based rail enthusiast Derek Thynn, 50, gave the new flask the thumbs-up, after purchasing a lime green limited edition model from the Thermos showroom in Rowley Regis on the day of the launch.

'As flasks go, this is top of the range - a class leader' he told us, 'I've been using a 1.8 litre Thermos 3000 for some time, and don't get me wrong, it is a nice little flask, but, well, this is something different altogether!'

Initial sales of the 9000+ have reportedly been 'steady', although outlets have run out of stock in some areas where a high proportion of Thermos 7000 owners were looking to upgrade.

Later this year, Thermos will reveal the prototype for the 1000+ babyflask - the budget model is intended as a first-time flask for younger buyers.
