Wednesday are one of the handful of big clubs who were Premiership mainstays in the 1990s, but who have also spent time outside the top two divisions - others include Leeds, Forests, and QPR = all following a trend started by Man City.
Now more settled at Championship level, they are an average side, and generally less successful than rivals United, which is historically unprecedented, as Wednesday always used to be the more prolific of the two Sheffield teams.
